Dissolve 20 grams in 1 liter distilled water. Then adjust the pH to 7.2. Heat and frequently agitate to completely dissolve. Material is specially granulated to reduce dust and increase solubility rate. Sterilize by autoclaving for 15 minutes.

Rappaport Vassiliadis Salmonella Enrichment Broth is an enrichment broth utilized for the selective isolation of Salmonella spp. from non-sterile samples. RVSE Broth is used as a selective enrichment broth followed by subculture performed onto Xylose Lysine Deoxycholate (XLD) agar. Malachite green and magnesium chloride act as selective agents, combined with high osmotic pressure and low pH to effectively inhibit non-target competitive organisms. Soya peptone provides a source of nitrogen and potassium phosphate acts as a buffer.
